A young welder fights to pull her little sister out of the home of their addicted mother. A poetic portrait of coming of age in the harsh reality of a country from which we rarely hear any news.
The story of a young welder who, against all odds, tries to secure a better future for her small sister can break even the hardest of hearts. Unassuming yet determined, Katia possesses a remarkable inner strength despite her age. She does exhausting physical work every day while also confronting pervasive misogyny, crushing bureaucracy, and the demons of her past. But will that be enough to break the cycle of generational trauma?
The film’s exceptional cinematography highlights the cold beauty of frost-bound landscapes and the stark, unforgettable presence of its protagonists.
