Good morning, hello

This year, we will meet at the WATCH DOCS festival in Warsaw cinemas from 5 to 14 December. At the same time, some of the films will be available to watch online on the Mojeekino.pl platform.

For the 25th edition of the festival, we have prepared screenings and events that are accessible to people with different needs. The programme includes films with subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, screenings with audio description and a Polish voiceover, as well as events interpreted into Polish Sign Language (PSL).

In this tab, you will find more information about the accessibility of the festival, including:

  • this year's films and events
  • the possibility of assistance and ticket reservations
  • how to use the Kino Dostępne 2.0 audio description application, which does not require an internet connection in the cinema, but rather downloading the audio description track before the screening
  • how to purchase tickets
  • the festival venues and how to get there

If you have any questions, please send us an email, text message or give us a call.

How to use the Kino Dostępne 2.0 app?

  • The new version of the application does not require internet access during the screening in the cinema.

Before going to the cinema:

  • At a convenient time, in a place with free internet access (Wi-Fi connection, good mobile data transfer), download the necessary audio description or narrator file for the selected film. Select the film you are interested in in the application, tap on its title, and after expanding the film card, activate the "Download audio description" or "Download voiceover" button. The download will end with the message "All files have been downloaded".

In the cinema:

  • Headphones are required to use the app. The headphones should allow you to hear ambient sounds clearly, as the film's audio (e.g. music, dialogue, etc.) will be heard from the screening room.
  • The application synchronises audio description playback by analysing the sound coming from the cinema speakers, so you must grant permission to use the microphone for it to work. Please note: even if headphones are connected, the app only uses the smartphone's microphone during synchronisation. During this time, hold your smartphone steady in your hand and make sure to minimise any noise coming from the speakers (loud conversations, knocks, etc.). Once you have taken your seat in the cinema, launch the application and select the film you have come to see from the list of available titles. If you are at a festival screening or film review, look for the film in the "Festivals or Film Reviews" tab.
  • Films for which audio descriptions have been downloaded will appear at the top of the list in the Downloaded section. After the commercial break, when the film begins, tap the "Start Audio Description" button. Synchronisation will now begin. When the process is complete, you will hear a confirmation sound in your headphones, followed by the voice of the narrator reading the audio description or subtitles. You can now safely lock your smartphone screen and put it in your pocket. Synchronisation can take between 20 and 90 seconds. After this time, you will hear the message "Synchronisation failed". In this case, you will need to repeat the process.

Testing the app at home

  • We have posted a short test film on kinodostepne.pl, which will allow you to try out the application at home. Run the test film on your computer or other device. Make sure that the playback is not disturbed by ambient sounds, such as conversations or street noise. In the app, in the film list section, find the film "Chomik", download the audio description for it and play it.

Event: The Invisible Film (film screening + discussion)

Cinema without image Audio description

14 December (Sunday) 16:00, KINOMUZEUM

Together with the Kino Dostępne Foundation, we invite you to a unique screening of the French short documentary "If You Don't Like It, look Away". Unique because... it has no images. It is replaced entirely by audio description.

What remains of a film when we strip it of its visual layer? Can we still talk about “watching”? Is cinema only about images? After the screening, we will discuss this and other non-traditional ways of experiencing film art with Jan Dybczyński and Roman Roczeń from the Kino Dostępne Foundation.

We invite you to participate in the screening designed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and adapted to the needs of blind and visually impaired people, with audio description forming a fundamental, integral part of the film. We are delighted to be able to create a space for shared cinema experiences, regardless of how they are perceived.

Audio description is available exclusively through the Kino Dostępne 2.0 app. To participate in the event, download the app and the audio description track before the film, and bring your headphones to the screening. Instructions for using the app can be found above.

The screening takes place at KINOMUZEUM. To open the cinema entrance door, press the button located on the pillar to the left of the door. If you have any problems opening it, please contact us at: +48 579754101. Watch the event trailer on YouTube:
