The story unfolding on screen was filmed in the early 2000s, during the Second Intifada. As the Israeli army launches its retaliation in the West Bank, Suha documents her family’s daily life amid the bombings. Years later, her son revisits these recordings, transforming them into a powerful act of remembrance, preserving both personal and collective memory from fading into silence.
The story unfolding on screen was filmed in the early 2000s, during the Second Intifada. As the Israeli army begins its retaliation in the West Bank, Suha thrice makes a promise to God - that if her family survives, they will leave Palestine. Yet each time, she cannot bring herself to follow through. Amid the bombings, she documents the daily life of her family, determined to record the nights filled with the sound of falling bombs, an experience all too common in the occupied territories, yet seldom captured on film. Few parents would reach for a camera in such moments. Suha, however, remains steadfast, even as her terrified children beg her to stop filming. Two decades later, her now adult son revisits these amateur recordings, crafting a deeply moving continuation of the story his mother began. In doing so, he transforms her private archive into a collective act of remembrance, one that resists both silence and forgetting.
