"Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds,” says Vishnu in the Bhagavad Gita. In the mouth of Robert Oppenheimer, these words are staggering, even years later, especially when this archival footage brings to a standstill a stream of nostalgic images of our planet, creating the impression that the words were uttered from the other side of time - after the end of the world.
