We've kicked off the 24th edition of WATCH DOCS!

Today is the day! The first day of the 24th edition of the WATCH DOCS IFF Human Rights in Film will be filled with screenings and meetings with guests who have come to us from many corners of the world. And at the end of this exciting Friday, we offer you a disco party fundraiser for sheltered dogs - SILENT PSISKO!

A screening of the documentary "Flowers of Ukraine" will begin at the recently opened KINOMUZEUM, located in the new building of the Museum of Modern Art on Parade Square at 6pm. It is a portrait of the remarkable 67-year-old Natalia, who fights developers to preserve her green oasis in the center of Kyiv, where she keeps goats and chickens. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with director Adelina Borets.

At the same cinema, at 8:30 pm, we will screen the most important contemporary documentary about queer Warsaw - "Such Feeling". A candid portrait of a group of friends that has become a manifesto of the generation - performances, manifestations, ordinary and fleeting moments are intertwined in it with conversations about happiness, sex and dreams. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the cast and the film crew.

Tonight, at 6 pm in Kinoteka, there is also a screening and a Q&A session with the director of the film "There Was Nothing Here Before", a documentary in which he makes contact with a childhood friend - now an Orthodox settler. He goes to visit him with his camera. What will result from this meeting? Combining archives, family heirlooms, animation and the results of contemporary research, Yvann Yagchi uncovers traces of his family's former glory and the country before the Nakba - the ethnic cleansing carried out by Israel in 1948.

Also at the Kinoteka, at 6:15 pm, we will travel to the Paris airport, one of the largest in Europe. A gigantic "La Base" of cab drivers is located there. Drivers spend a lot of time there - not only waiting for customers. They can also meet countrymen, and friends, drink coffee, play ping pong, pray and chat there. The air throbs with the rhythms of suburban hip-hop mixed with Afrobeat. The director, who will meet with viewers after the screening, draws a non-obvious and very interesting picture of contemporary France.

The Muranów Cinema screenings begin today with the film "Silent Trees" - Agnieszka Zwiefka's acclaimed documentary about the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border as seen through the eyes of a teenage Kurdish girl. After the screening, not only the filmmakers, but also the protagonists - Runa and her family - will meet with the audience.

Towards the end of the day, we offer you two musical events: a portrait of feminist electro-punk icon Peaches ("Peaches Goes Bananas" 9:15 pm Muranów Cinema) and Silent Psisko - a disco party combined with a fundraiser for dogs under the care of the Pomagaj Ratuj Adoptuj Foundation! Our DJs for tonight are Lucy Monsalve, Era Maili, Alexis x LAN ƠI x DJ Myszka. Venue: Festival Club - Kulturalna.
