Ukrainian project "Displaced" awarded by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights

On Saturday, the 4th of June, a special B2B Doc Launch Pad pitching event took place, which exceptionally this year due to the war in Ukraine was moved from Kiev to Krakow. During the pitching 13 documentary film projects from Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan were presented.

Among the awards for the best projects presented during the pitching there was also, for the first time, the HFHR Doc award, granted by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights. PLN 15,000 went to the Ukrainian project "Displaced" by director Olya Zhurby and producer Daria Bassel from the production company Moon Man. "Displaced" combines documentary footage and audio recordings in an innovative way. The filmmakers intend to tell the story of Ukraine during the war through the stories of houses "captured" by the Russian occupiers - and their inhabitants. Those who fled the war and those who chose to stay despite everything.

The award inaugurates a new project of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights: an emergency fund  for socially engaged film projects in the early stages of development and production.
