Start your week with WATCH DOCS VR!
Not only meetings and screenings in cinemas, but also unforgettable VR experiences as part of the Extended Worlds section. Check out what we’ve prepared for you at the start of the week!
For the first time in the WATCH DOCS Festival program, alongside world-class films, you’ll find a selection of five socially engaged VR experiences acclaimed at major European festivals. In each of these works, the possibility of freely exploring reality allows the protagonists' perspective to be taken with openness and empathy. We invite you to the TR Warszawa, where you can immerse yourself in Extended Worlds until December 1st – with no admission fee.
We’re not slowing down. On Monday, November 24th, the festival audience will have the chance to visit the world’s largest, or at least the busiest, maternity clinic. This is because a hundred babies are born every day at a hospital in Manila, Philippines. After the screening, there will be a meeting with this year’s laureate of the Marek Nowicki Prize – the director of the film, Ramona S. Diaz. It’s one of those screenings that stays in your memory for a long time. Don’t miss this screening – “Motherland”, 9:00 PM at KINOMUZEUM.
Earlier at KINOMUZEUM, at 6:00 PM, there will be a screening of the film “Dogs Are People Too”, followed by a discussion titled “Animals Are People Too” In Poland, there are over 12 million dogs and cats and just under 6 million children. Animals have become our rescuers, therapists, friends, and even family members. At the same time, we mindlessly accept the industrial exploitation of farm animals. What kind of law is needed to regulate our relationships with other species?
At Kinoteka, catch the first screening of the gripping documentary “My Sextortion Diary” at 8:15 PM, followed by a Q&A with the director, Patricia Franquesa. This is the story of a sex blackmail the director herself went through. A simple laptop theft in a café flipped her life upside down. Days later, the blackmailer reached out, demanding a ransom and threatening to release her nude photos. What do you do when everything’s on the line? How do you stay calm and make the right call? Don’t miss it this Monday at WATCH DOCS!
