One of the most talked-about Polish documentaries of this year will soon be on cinema screens. For the time being, 'The Hamlet Syndrome' - the latest film by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski (responsible, among others, for 'The Domino Effect' and the famous 'The Prince and the Dybbuk') - is enjoying great success at festivals in Poland and abroad. At the Krakow Film Festival, he was awarded the Golden Hobby-Horse. At the Locarno International Film Festival, it won the Grand Prix for best film of the Semaine de la Critique section and the Boccalino d'Oro independent critics' award for best documentary. "The Hamlet Syndrome" tells the story of five young Ukrainians who try to face their most difficult memories on stage. The authors of the documentary show the harrowing fate of a generation for whom war has become an everyday reality, confront attitudes and experiences, and ask difficult questions about the limits of sacrifice. The Warsaw premiere of 'Syndrome' will take place on 30 September at the cinema Atlantic (tickets available here), after which the film will be released in cinemas.
