DISCUSSION: The Promised Land

Is it possible to measure and compare suffering? In her latest film, the experienced Israeli documentary filmmaker (we screened her “Web Junkie” in the WATCH DOCS competition 10 years ago) brings us a story showing the intricacies of a conflict whose next installment is drawing worldwide attention. During a demonstration of Israeli settler strength in 2021, a bystander - Palestinian Musa - is killed. A few days later, after his funeral, riots break out, the victim of which is Yigal - a Jew. Neither of them was an extremist, they lived in the same neighborhood, met in the store and on the street. Both families are plunged into pain, but thanks to an unusual coincidence they will be united by something more. During the discussion we will pose the questions: Who are the parties to the current Israel-Palestine conflict? What is the broader context of the armed conflict? How is Israeli and Palestinian society organized around it? Are anti-war protests a real support for the victims of the conflict?
