WATCH DOCS NOMINATIONS AT THE 58TH KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL

May 27 will mark the beginning of the most important Polish documentary event and our longstanding partner – Krakow Film Festival. Like in previous years, we are nominating films from the program of the KFF to be presented in the competition section of the 18th WATCH DOCS.

This year, we have chosen two documentaries: “Of Fathers and Sons” by Talal Derki (Grand Jury Prize at Sundance) – and “Deminer”.  The former, by the acclaimed director of “Return to Homs” (WATCH DOCS Competition 2014) is a portrait of a Syrian jihadists family bringing up their children to become martyrs. “Deminer,” directed by a duo of Kurdish directors living in Sweden, is on the other hand an edge-of-your-seat documentary thriller, whose hero – a fearless peshmerga armed only with pliers and a screwdriver – saves hundreds of Iraqis from the death induced by IS mine-traps.
